49. Ashta siddhi, the last rung in Sri Chakra

Verse 49

Animaadhi sidhayo:yaa: kamaneeya kaaminee roopaa:

Vidyaantara phala bhootaa: guna bhaavenaantya bhooniketanagaa:

“Her eight powers anima and others assume the forms of beautiful young women and are attainable y other practices.  Being of secondary nature they are in the last section of the bhupura.

Commentary:

Her eight powers are anima, lagima, mahima, ishitva, vasishtva, prakamya, bhukti, iccha, prapti, sarva kama.

They are attained by other vidhyas such as hatha yoga and others.  They are of secondary nature or guna.  They should be considered inferior to moksha.  Hence, they are in the lowest section of the bhupura.  By worshipping the Paramatma in this manner the sadhaka becomes the Great Lord himself.

அணிமாதி சித்தயோ: யா: கமனீய காமிநீ ரூபா:

வித்யாந்தர பல பூதா: குண பாவேநான்த்ய பூநிகேதனகா:

“அவளது சக்திகளான அணிமா முதலியவை அழகிய பெண்ணுருவைப் பெறுகின்றனர், அவர்களைப் பிற வழிகளிலும் அடையலாம்.  இரு தரமானவைகளாக அவை இருப்பதால் அவை பூபுரத்தின் கடைசி பகுதியில் இருக்கின்றனர்.

விளக்கவுரை:

தேவியின் எட்டு சக்திகள் அணிமா, லகிமா, மகிமா, ஈஷித்வம் வசிஷ்த்வம், பிரகாம்யம், புக்தி, இச்சா, ப்ராப்தி, சர்வகாமா என்பவை.

அவற்றை ஹத யோகம் போன்ற பிற வழிகளிலும் பெறலாம்.  அதனால் அவை குணங்களாக இருக்கின்றன. அவற்றை மோட்சத்தைவிட தரம் தாழ்ந்தவையாகக் கருத வேண்டும்.  அதனால் அவை பூபுரத்தின் கடைசி தளத்தில் உள்ளன. பரமாத்மாவை இவ்விதமாக வழிபடுவதன்மூலம் ஒரு சாதகன் தானே பரமாத்மாவாகிறான்.
