Mudra: trikhandayaa saha samvimayaa: samucchrithaa: sarvaa:

Aadimaheegrahavaasaa: bhaasaa balaarka kaantibhi: sadrushaa:

“All mudras including tri khandaa are samvid and excel all.  They are the first (innermost) section of the Bhupura and resemble the young sun in their lustre.”

Trikhandaa means three parts of the Srividya mantra.  It signifies the Sun, the moon and the fire.  This mudra is for the bindhu or sarva anandamaya chakram where the nondual aspect of the Divine is eulogized.   The first or the innermost section of the square or the Bhupura is called Mahee gruha. 

Among many meanings mudra also means seal, dissolve and gesture.  It is a physical expression of something.  Mudras in Srividya are Devi herself.  Khechari mudra is the state of Siva.  Mudraa is also called cid-vyoma-chaarini.  The ten mudras of sarva samkshobini are great Saktis who dispel fear and give happiness.

Mudra can be split as muc or dissolve and draa- or draavayathi which means dissolve or fuse.  Thus, mudras free men from bonds, they dissolve the bonds.

These mudras begin from the square and end in bindu.  Vamakesvara tantra (VI. 57-71) says that when chith sakti manifests she cognizes the universe as “this” on herself and assumes the forms of several mudras.

“த்ரிகண்டா முதலிய முத்திரைகள் அனைத்தும் சம்வித், அனைத்தையும்விட உயர்ந்தவை.  அவை பூபுரத்தின் உள்ள சதுரத்தில் இளம் சூரியனின் நிறத்தில் உள்ளன.”

த்ரிகண்டா என்றால் ஸ்ரீவித்யா மந்திரத்தின் மூன்று பகுதிகள்.  அவை சூரியன், சந்திரன் மற்றும் அக்னியைக் குறிக்கின்றன.  இந்த முத்திரை பிந்து அல்லது சர்வானந்தமய சக்கரத்தின் முத்திரையாகும்.  அது ஒருமை நிலையில் இருக்கும் இறைமையைக் குறிக்கும்.  பூபுரத்தின் முதல் சுற்று மகீக்ருஹா. த்ரிகண்டா முத்திரையைக் கீழுள்ள தளத்தில் காண்க.

முத்திரை என்றால் ஒன்றை உள்ளடக்கியது, கரைப்பது, அபிநயம் என்ற பொருள்களும் உண்டு.  அது ஒன்றைக் குறிக்கப் பயன்படுத்தும் சைகை.  ஸ்ரீவித்யாவில் முத்திரை என்பது தேவியே, அவளையே காட்டுகின்றது.  கேசரி முத்திரை சிவ நிலையைக் காட்டுகிறது. முத்ரா சித் வ்யோமசாரிணீ என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறாள்.  சர்வ சம்க்ஷோபிணியின் பத்து சக்திகள் பத்து முத்திராக்கள் அவர்கள் பயத்தை விலக்கி ஆனந்தத்தைக் கொடுக்கின்றனர்.

முத்திரா என்ற சொல் முத் அல்லது கரைப்பது த்ரா அல்லது த்ராவயதி அல்லது ஒன்றை மற்றொன்றோடு கரையச் செய்து ஒன்றாக்குவது என்று பொருள்.  முத்திரைகள் மனிதர்களின் கர்மங்களைக் கரைத்து அவர்களை விடுதலை பெற்றவர்களாக்குகின்றன.

முத்திரைகள் வெளியில் உள்ள சதுரத்தில் தொடங்கி பிந்துவில் முடிகின்றன. சித் சக்தி தன்னை வெளிப்படுத்திக்கொள்ள ஆரம்பிக்கும்போது பிரபஞ்சத்தை”இது” என்று பார்த்துத் தன்மீது வரைந்துகொண்டு பல முத்திரகளாக இருக்கிறாள் என்று வாமகேச்வர தந்திரம் கூறுகிறது.
