19. Vidya and Vedhya are not separate

Verse 19

Vidyaapi taadrg aatmaa sookshma saa tripurasundari devi

Vidyaa vedyaatmakayor atyantha abhedam aamantyaaryaa:

“The Vedya (subject of knowledge) is also like this- She is the subtle Devi Tripura sundari.  The great yogis have ever taught the inseparable nature of vidya and vedya.”

Devi Tripurasundari, who is sought through the knowledge is also “like this” (taadrg aatma) the mantra she is immanent in her tattva, the universe and is beyond and transcends both.  She is subtle which means she cannot be defined as this.  She is called Tripura because she produces all things that are in a threefold state and she is Sundari because of her charm and that she is adored by yogis.  She is the para-vak whose play is creation.  Her vidya is the 15 letter mantra. 

வித்யாபி தாத்ருக் ஆத்மா சூக்ஷ்ம சா த்ரிபுர சுந்தரீ தேவீ

வித்யா வேதாத்மகயோர் அத்யந்த அபேதம் ஆமந்த்யார்யா:

“வேத்யையும் (அறியப்படும் பொருள்) இதைப் போலத்தான்- அவள் சூட்சுமமான தேவி த்ரிபுர சுந்தரீ.  வித்யையும் வேத்யையும் பிரிக்க முடியாதவை என்று பெரிய யோகிகள் கற்றுக்கொடுத்துள்ளனர்.”

பதினைந்து எழுத்துக்கள் கொண்ட மந்திரம் வித்யை. அதனால் அறியப்படும் பொருள், வேத்யா, த்ரிபுர சுந்தரி தேவி.  அந்த மந்திரத்தைப் போல அவளும் எல்லா தத்துவங்களின் உள்ளும், உலகங்களின் உள்ளும் இருப்பவள், அவற்றைக் கடந்தும் இருப்பவள்.  அவள் சூட்சுமமானவள். அதாவது அவளை “இது” என்று விளக்குவது கடினம்.  அவள் திரிபுரா ஏனெனில் அவள் மூவிதமாக இருக்கும் எல்லாப் பொருள்களையும் படைப்பவள். அவள் சுந்தரி, அவளது அழகால், யோகிகள் அவளைப் போற்றுவதால்.  அவளே பரா வாக், அதன் விளையாட்டே சிருஷ்டி.
