18. Devi and 36 principles

Verse 18

Ajvyanjana bindu traya samasti bhedair vibaavita aakaaraa

Shattrimsat tattva aatmaa tattva ateethaa ca kevalaa vidyaa

“The Vidya composed of three bindus, the vowels, consonants separately and together, is both immanent and transcendent in the 36 principles and is Herself alone.”

In the context of the letters, the vagbhava contains 5 vowels and 7 consonants-12 letters. The Kamaraja contains 6 vowels and 8 consonants- 14 letters. The third part, Sakthi has 4 vowels and 6 consonants.  Thus, the total of these make up 36 letters which are Devi’s limbs.  This vidya, as a whole, surpasses all the 36 tattvas.

This is the division in the Hadi sampradaya.  In the Kadi sampradaya also the twin qualities, transcendence and immanence, is present.  The difference is in the Hadi the vagbhava has 5 vowels and 7 consonants while Kadi has 7 vowels and 5 consonants.  Thus both the vidya possess 12 characters in the first part. 

Kevala means advitiya, none other than Devi is present in total. 

அஜ்யாஞ்சன பிந்து த்ரய சமஷ்டி பேதைர் விபாவித ஆகாரா

ஷட்த்ரிசத் தத்வ ஆத்மா தத்வ அதீத ச கேவலா வித்யா

“மூன்று பிந்துக்கள்-உயிர் எழுத்து, மெய் எழுத்து, உயிர்மெய் எழுத்து ஆகியவை உள்ளும் புறமுமாக 36 தத்துவங்களை உள்ளடக்கியவையாகவும் அவற்றைக் கடந்தவையாகவும் இருக்கின்றன, அவை தேவியே”

எழுத்துக்களில் வாக்பாவம் 5 உயிரெழுத்துக்களும் 7 மெய் எழுத்துக்களும் கொண்டு மொத்தம் 12 எழுத்துக்களாகவும், காமராஜம் 6 உயிரெழுத்துக்கள் 8 மெய்  எழுத்துக்களாக 14 எழுத்துக்களாகவும் சக்தி 4 உயிர் எழுத்துக்களும் 6 மெய்எழுத்துக்களும் கொண்டதாக உள்ளது. இவ்வாறு மொத்த எழுத்துக்கள் 36 தத்துவங்களைக் குறிப்பவையாக தேவியின் அங்கங்களாக உள்ளன.  இந்த வித்யா 36 தத்துவங்களை உள்ளடக்கியதாகவும் அவற்றைக் கடந்ததாகவும் உள்ளது.

மேலே கொடுக்கப்பட்டது ஹாதி சம்பிரதாயம். காதி சம்பிரதாயத்திலும் தேவி, அனைத்துள்ளும் இருப்பவளாகவும் அனைத்தையும் கடந்தவளாகவும் கருதப்படுகிறாள்.  ஹாதியில் வாக்பாவம் 5 உயிர் எழுத்துக்களும் 7 மெய் எழுத்துக்களும் என்றால் காதியில் 7 உயிர் எழுத்துக்களும் 5 மெய் எழுத்துக்களும் கொண்டதாக உள்ளது. இவ்வாறு இரு வித்தியாக்களிலும் முதல் பகுதி எழுத்துக்களைக் கொண்டதாக உள்ளது.
